Labor started at 9:15PM. Arrived at hospital at 9:45PM. Started pushing at 10:15PM. Harrison born at 11:08PM (4 lb. 15 oz, 17.91 in) head first. Claire born at 11:15PM (4 lb. 15 oz, 18.1 in), feet first. No NICU!

This has to be a record.

Went for another appt today. Verdict: 5 cm dilated (yes, five, not a typo) and effacement is “tissue paper thin”. Soooooo, we’re on the launch pad, boosters raging and ready for blast off.

As for me. I’m scared as hell. Probably a little late for that now.

We have progress. Went to the OB today!

- 3 cm dilated

- 80% effaced

- cervix is very soft and feels “ready” according to our amazing OB

- Harrison’s head can be felt, he is “at least” at 0 station

I told our OB that I hung on like this for a month with Julia. He still gave us his cell phone just in case things go too fast and we need to call for verbal instructions. Seriously. But, I’m taking the nifedipine until Wednesday to ward off contractions and then after that it’s whatever my uterus decides to do.

On a side note, I weigh 149 lbs. Yay.

Just a quick little note to let everyone know that I escaped my confinement (that’s the official Aetna term) on Tuesday the 20th. I have been doing a semi-good job at following orders which means lying down with only the occasional chore, such as to switch the laundry, grab food, bathroom, shower, etc. My mom came over today to help me get stuff ready, so I followed her room to room resting in collapsible lounge/beach chair. I feel a little better now that some stuff is in order. We still have a few things to get done so she’s coming back tomorrow to help out. Whew!

And so it was tonight when I ate dinner 2 hours late. Two hours is a lot when you’re pregnant, pregnant with twins, and have a medication you need to take with food.

One of the lovely nurse tech’s (aid) finally took me down to this little cafe in the hospital to grab a delicious, giant piece of pizza. We had waited in line forever to get the pizza and were in a second line waiting to pay when an additional register was opened. We were next in line. Imagine my excitement when the new cashier called for “next in line”. My excitement quickly turned to rage when this woman three people back pushed the tech out of the way to get around my wheelchair and check out with the new cashier. Before I could stop myself, I outstretched my arm, blocking her and said “Oh, I’m sorry I thought he said next in line.”

The look on her face was not one of remorse, but rather one of shock that I actually stopped her. I guess in the hospital it’s cool to run over people in wheelchairs instead of doing your best to help them.
