Ma! Get my walker!!

So – yesterday was much more fun than today. Yesterday Julia spent the evening pushing her lil walker toy around the living room! Super cute. I currently have 2 goals.

1. Video her walking with her walker.

2. Video her pole dancing on/with our floor lamp. (Seriously, bring your one’s)

Today however, she is mucho sick. 104.3 fever. Runny nose. Cough. Vomiting. Loose poop.  Oh, and also, she’s getting a second tooth. Poor, sweet, munchkin!

Not me!!!

NotMeMondayButtonV6copy

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

As for me…I  never, I mean, never give my crying baby a bottle with only a few drops left in it, a left over from daycare, to tide her over on the car ride home. Not me! I mean really, that’s a safety concern. And, I obviously did not dare to apply the five 10 second rule when it came to picking up the “cruncher munchers” that are all over the floor…and placing them back on the high chair tray for a second pass.  Not me!  I also did not, repeat, did not, let my daughter go from Thursday to Sunday wearing only one earring. Not me!!! What kind of parent would I be if I did those things? For shame!

Two hundred and thirty one days & finally…a TOOTH!!!! She has a tooth. Her very first tooth!!! It’s the bottom right middle one. I am trying desperately to get a picture of it. But generally, she hides it under her tongue. Oh my, I’m relieved. Whew. That was a close call. I really considered the possibility that she would never grow teeth and would need to wear dentures, or as crazy pageant moms (no offense if you are one) call them…flippers. But then I thought, maybe that would be cheaper than braces, b/c she will need braces. Will need braces. Mark my words, will need braces.

Gill Check

This morning we packed up the fam and took Julia to her swim lessons (yes, we really paid money for our 7 mo. old daughter to take swimming lessons). She loves swimming so much that I often check for gills or signs that her legs are beginning to fuse together, mermaid style. Today, on Independance Day, Julia learned her “1 second breath control” and went under water several times!!! She did fantastic. But may I just say, nothing goes against your instinct as a mother more than letting a stranger dunk your baby. At the end of the lesson she got to go down the slide (one of those little fisher price ones) and land in the water/my arms, the teacher told me to just grab her hands when she got to the bottom of the slide and then let her go under for 1 second and then pull her out.

As it turns out, even when my child’s life is on the line, I have zero hand/eye coordination. So when my little butterball came barreling down that slide straight towards my waiting, outstretched arms…I missed. Into the water she went. Like a rock. PANIC. PANIC. ALERT. ALERT. I did, by some miracle of God, manage to snag her and rocket her back above the water. But heavens to betsy’s. That had to have been at least 2 seconds. I almost stroked out on the spot. Her laughter and sheer giddyness was comforting as I scanned the perimeter of the room for the portable AED. Sigh.
